About Summit Hand and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation

We offer flexible appointment scheduling. from 9 a.m. – 7:30 p.m, and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m

We work with Medicare, Workers Compensation and many Insurance Carriers.

At Summit Hand and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation, we treat patients who have a disorder of the hand, wrist, elbow or shoulder. Our licensed occupational therapists/certified hand therapists have intricate knowledge of upper extremity function and structure, and we work with patients to prevent injury or impairment, restore gross and fine motor skills, and enhance participation in activities of daily living.

All patients receive one-on-one treatment from a certified hand therapist, supported by experienced exercise technologists. We collaborate with your physician to create your treatment plan, using the highest clinical standards in the field.

Our staff is warm and supportive, and our soothing, sun-filled space provides a healing environment.

Specialized Services

Custom Splinting

Summit Hand therapists provide both pre-op and post-op splinting. These services include custom fabrication of thermoplastic splints, and sizing/fitting of pre-fabricated splints.

Specialized Services

Kinesio Taping

Summit Hand Therapy has therapists certified in Kinesio taping, which is often prescribed for the treatment of tendonitis. Kinesio taping provides support and stability for joints and muscles while reducing pain and inflammation.

All services at Summit Hand Therapy begin with a comprehensive evaluation that includes a detailed medical history and review of operative reports. Treatments include strengthening / endurance training, sensory re-education, fine motor coordination, activities of daily living, work conditioning, ergonomic training and individualized home programs.

Meet the Team at Summit Hand and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation

Justin Hurst

MS, OTR/L, CHT

Justin Hurst founded Summit Hand & Upper Extremity Rehabilitation in 2014. Justin is an Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist with more than 13 years of clinical experience. In his six years at Hand Surgery Associates and Dr. Alamgir Isani’s Surgery of the Hand and Wrist, he gained expertise in wound care, post-operative splinting and rehabilitation of the upper extremity. Additional professional affiliations have included hospital, corporate and private practices.

Justin has a B.A. in Psychology from Rutgers University, where he was a nationally ranked team captain for the Men’s Division I Wrestling Team. Justin was also a two-time recipient of the Scholar Athlete award. He then earned a Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Touro College, graduating summa cum laude. Justin is a member of the American Society of Hand Therapists.

Stephanie Pineda

Office Administrator and Rehabilitation Technician

Stephanie is our office administrator and rehabilitation technician. She joined our team in 2015 after graduating from Rutgers University with her bachelors in Psychology and Spanish. She has a passion for learning and serving and will be furthering her education to become an occupational therapist.

....I can say that I have never encountered such care, commitment to patients as people, and the impression that this person was working here because of a deep sense of vocation, not just to make money. And I watched him treat each patient who came in as if they were a friend, and this was reciprocated. He works his patients hard, and doesn’t mess around when it comes to working the hand or arm, but he is there every step encouraging, motivating, and adjusting when needed. I have to say, you would be hard-pressed to find anyone working in the area of health care that worked harder, or cared more than Justin and Stephanie and we would recommend them fully and without hesitation.
